Right off the bat — this isn’t a blog about God.

I’m Emily, a queer woman living in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States, and this is my personal, public blog.  I’m writing about design, clothes, technology, language, gender, art, films, music, food, transportation, science, feminism, and anything else I’m not qualified to talk about.

Instead of my “postcards” — what I call my private blog (located elsewhere) of short, personal missives with much more specific recipients intended — I’m hoping to invoke the epistolary genre as I try to find and clarify my voice using this site as a platform to publish ideas, creative writing, notes, works in progress, and so on.  I’m trying to drive myself to write and create and be more productive, to avoid being the consumptive Internet user I’ve allowed myself to become through the years.
